| This issue has been addressed in version
1.227, available now.
If you had installed a version of ChoiceMail earlier than
1.227, it would immediately begin downloading all your email
to a private area on your PC....it's not lost. While dealing
with this issue, do not uninstall or delete your ChoiceMail
folders. Even if you temporarily stop using ChoiceMail,
leave the folder structure intact.
Assuming you installed ChoiceMail using the default installation
values and your userid is jsmith, then the folder containing
your message will be
c:\Program files\DigiPortal Software\ChoiceMail\mailboxes\jsmith
The cause of this problem is that your email program has
not been configured to connect to ChoiceMail rather than
your original mail server. This can happen if you are using
an email client other than Outlook Express or Eudora because
(at this time) ChoiceMail can configure only those two products
through its wizard.
In the latest release, ChoiceMail will not download any
messages from your server until your email application has
been correctly configured.
In a nutshell, you need to open your existing email application's
mail account configuration and make sure your incoming (POP3)
and outgoing (SMTP) mail servers are pointing at localhost.
It may also be necessary to change your POP3 port if you
are using an older anti-virus product that installs its
own POP server to monitor incoming emails.
As an example, this process is already described in the
users guide
for Outlook 2000.
